Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was the first Home minister of India and he played a pivotal role in the integration of princely states in the Indian union. As a member of constituent assembly he headed the advisory committee on Fundamental Rights, Provincial Constitution committee and the Committee on tribal and excluded areas. V P Menon was an Indian Civil Servant and served as the Secretary General in Ministry of States under Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He was also known as right hand of Sardar Patel and was instrumental in accession of princely states.
