Bombay blood group is a rare blood group, and this blood phenotype was first discovered in 1952 by Dr Y. M. Bhende in Bombay, presently known as Mumbai. It has neither A nor B antigens. The person with the Bombay blood group can donate blood to any of the ABO blood group systems but cannot receive blood from any member of the ABO blood group systems but only from other people who have the Bombay blood phenotype.
