India's first planetary mission was Mars orbiter Mission also called as Mangalyaan which was launched on 5th November, 2013. It was launched by the PSLV C25 rocket. Through this India achieved Mars orbit insertion in its first attempt on September 2014.  ISRO was established on 15th August 1969 and its first chariman was Dr. Vikram Sarabhai.
