Hello Archana

Both Bsc agriculture and BE agriculture are good but when it comes to which one is better of these two then BE agriculture has an edge over bsc agriculture.

Both the bsc and BE agriculture may seem same but they have different scope and require different skills and interests.

Your B.Sc. Agriculture deals with the various process involved in agriculture and how to improve yield , so it mainly deals with theory but not the practical or implementation or technology part while your BE Agriculture , being a professional course mainly deals with the technology associated with agriculture and farming.

Also, when it comes to job opportunities then BE agriculture being a professional engineering degree has edge over Bsc agriculture BE agriculture provides you higher career growth and high paying jobs in both government and private based companies.

So , in short BE agriculture is better than Bsc agriculture.

Thankyou

Both fields have good career options, these two fields are totally different to each other. For selecting your programme, first figure out your interest, in which field you are good. What skills you have either for agriculture or for technology then choose your programme. Don’t choose your programme by others opinion or under pressure. Now you have time to decide your career and which field is perfect for you. After completing your graduation, you didn’t get time. If you are interested in agriculture, you love the fields like farming, horticulture, agriculture, etc. then go for B. Sc. agriculture. This field never runs out of job opportunities. But if you are interested in technology, you want to become an engineer then go for B. Tech.

B. Sc. Agriculture:

It is 4 years long Undergraduate Bachelor Degree program. B. Sc. Agriculture program consists of topics such as- agriculture science, use of modern scientific equipment and techniques in agriculture, land surveying, soil science, water resource management, animal and poultry management, basics of biotechnology etc. The main aim of this program is to use the above-mentioned concepts to train students improve agriculture productivity, manage products and pave way for future developments through research activities.

Career Prospects:

  • Financial services like Insurance companies and Banks like AO or PO
  • ARS or Agricultural Research Scientist
  • Agricultural Development Officer or ADO
  • Block Development Officer
  • Teaching jobs at well known government universities
  • Lecturers
  • Animal Husbandry
  • Dairy Consultancies

Top colleges for Agriculture: Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, Agriculture University, Jodhpur, Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar, Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner, Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, Raipur.

Choosing any course totally depends on your interest. If we compare both the courses then B.E in agricultural has more scope.

Aspirants having B.Sc degree in Agriculture can find lot of higher studies options like M.Sc in Agricultural Botany, M.Sc in Agricultural Entomology, M.Sc in Tea Husbandry and Technology, M.Sc in Farming System Management, M.Sc in Seed Technology etc. But they usually have less career opportunities compared to those having B.E in Agricultural Engineering.

Scope after B.Sc in Agriculture

B.Sc graduates in Agriculture can work as Agricultural Development Officer and earn a salary up to Rs. 15,000/- per month. Experienced graduates can join various manufacturing companies like Kanpur Fertilizers and Cement Limited as Sales Officer with a salary package up to Rs. 2, 00, 000/- per annum.

Scope after B.E in Agricultural Engineering

B.E degree holders in Agricultural Engineering can pursue their career as Agricultural Development Officer with a salary package of Rs. 20, 000/- per month.

Experienced graduates can work in Maharashtra State Seeds Corporation Limited as Junior Plant Engineer with monthly emoluments between Rs. 9,300/- and Rs. 34,800/-

Which course is better?

While comparing with career opportunities and salary package, B.E in Agricultural Engineering is much better than B.Sc in Agriculture. Average salary package offered for these graduates is up to Rs. 3, 00, 000/- per annum. But average salary package in the case of B.Tech graduates in Agricultural Engineering is up to Rs. 7, 00, 000/- per annum. They can find numerous opportunities in State Farms Corporation of India, Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), National Seeds Corporation Limited and Food Corporation of India. Even so, if the candidates are more interested in research field than technical field, then B.Sc in Agriculture is better option as there are lot of higher studies options.

Good Luck!!
