Hello,

It would be better to decide based on your personal interest.

M.Sc. and Integrated M.Sc. courses are related in some way but they are different in their level of studies. Integrated M.Sc. is a long term course compared to M.Sc. courses. M.Sc. is a higher option study after B.Sc. degree in related subjects. Integrated M.Sc. is different from this and is a course that can be done after higher secondary education. There are a number of universities and colleges which offer M.Sc. as well as Integrated M.Sc. in India.

Integrated MSc(5 years) course has been devised specially for research mindset students who want to focus immediately after 10+2.These students don’t have to plan Bachelors and Masters separately. Finally they are getting their masters degree after completion of the integrated courses.

ADVANTAGES OF INTEGRATED Msc ;

Usually Bsc and Msc will take four + two years if you do it separately. However dual degree programs like Bsc- Msc or Int. Msc gives you an advantage of a year.

Integrated MSc assures you that once you pass out, you will get both BSc as well as MSc degree. You start your research work earlier in integrated, thus saving 1 year.

If you go for bachelor’s degree in science, you need to give an entrance exam after 12th standard to get admission in a good college/university. Afterward, while going for a master’s degree, again you have to go through the pain and take an entrance exam.

However, an integrated M.Sc course can save you from this trouble. You just need to give one entrance after 12th and that’s it, you are safe for next 4 years.

Along with this, you do not have to stay confused about the college or university options available for you. In an integrated M.Sc. course, you can stay in the same college for the whole course.

Overall, students find it better to pursue an Integrated degree, so that they can bypass exams, etc.

DISADVANTAGES OF INTEGRATED Msc:

In integrated M.Sc , you don't get a degree certificate before you complete the entire course of 5 years. On the other hand in B.Sc you get a B.Sc degree certificate after 3 years and you have to take a admission test(JAM) for M.Sc  course after that.

In the same institute, professors favour students who enter into M.Sc course by JAM more than integrated M.Sc students

But,

If you are on focused on your career growth and want to do more than just a 9 to 5 job, then integrated M.Sc. is the one you should be looking for. Integrated M.Sc has a lot to offer than simply doing an M.Sc degree.

It helps in providing a wider overview of education and helps in linking and syncing all the academic material with each other over the period of four years. You study in continuation and study without distractions like job search or admission for master’s course, that usually happens in courses without the provision of integrated studies.

This also helps in boosting research prospects. You get to study in the continuation and that helps in creating a foreseeable focus on your research prospects. You can continue as per the subject of interest.

M.Sc. course and career opportunities :

Master of Science is a post graduate degree that can be pursued after the graduation in related subjects. The B.Sc. degree usually covers the science subjects including social sciences. The candidates who wish to study these subjects on a wider level can opt for M.Sc. in related subjects. This post graduation cannot be pursued if one does not have a basic knowledge of related fields in Bachelors degree. M.Sc. is a 2 year programme that is offered by many universities. The various branches in this study are Chemistry, Biology, Botany, Electronics, Computer Science, etc. The career opportunities after M.Sc. are also huge. One can perform in various roles such as scientist, researcher, lecturer or a consultant. These job profiles offer high remunerations compared to other jobs of the same kind.

Integrated M.Sc. course and career opportunities :

The minimum percentage required in qualifying examination will vary according to the universities and subject of study. Integrated M.Sc. is a five year program that includes theoretical and practical sessions. The career after Integrated M.Sc. seems to be very high. A number of industries recruit the candidates who have pursued their degree in Integrated M.Sc.

So,

The Key differentiators between M.Sc. and Integrated M.Sc. course are :

Only graduates can pursue M.Sc. whereas an intermediate student can study the integrated course.

M.Sc. is a 2 or 3 year programme while Integrated M.Sc. is a five year programme.

The aspirants who have pursued B.Sc. have to study M.Sc. as a separate course for acquiring a post graduation whereas the students opting for integrated M.Sc. can directly run out to that level.

You Can choose the branch of study according to your area of interest.

Hope it helps

Good luck!

Hello!

M.Sc. is a 2 year PG degree. It has a prerequisite of a Bachelor's degree in related fields. It has numerous career opportunities in the fields of teaching, research, consultancy, manufacturing, marketing, specializations in environment or safety, pharmaceutics and quality control.

Integrated M.Sc. is a 5 year degree that can be pursued right after completing class 12 from a recognized board with qualifying marks, along with an entrance test for some institutes. This degree also has many opportunities in research, business development, microbiology, pediatrics, clinical database programming and pharmaceutics.

One advantage of pursuing an integrated M.Sc. is that you can directly reach postgraduate level with this degree instead of pursuing an undergraduate degree first.

All the best!
