Hello.
Information technology: where you learn about processors, compilers develop algorithms etc. But at the end of the day it all comes down to your coding skills. Companies recruit you on the basics of how good a coder you are.
Electornics and communication: well you learn about microcontrollers and communication but keeping in mind that microcontrollers need to be programmed so you have to learn coding anyhow. And if you are dedicated enough you can use your little bit of coding knowledge on sites like codechef and develop your algorithms alongside.
Since most of the things are getting automated these days. People do need programmers. But automation also means lot of electronics. If you're an Indian and are willing to stay here then you must have heard about the H1B visa ban making most Indian programmers unfit for jobs in the silicon Valley. Well that is where all the big boys that can fetch you high paychecks recite. Also this news was well promoted that a mechanical engineer student was able to get job in Google developing his coding skills online which just proves that you can really replicate CSE/IT courseS through a bit of dedication.
So my personal view would be ECE is better than CSE/IT as it makes you fit for both worlds equally and with a bit of efforts you could do very well in your ECE curriculum as well as compete with most of your CSE/IT mates too. Not to forget how well your CV will shine if you are able to do that.
Conclusion
HOPE THIS IS HELPFUL.
GOOD LUCK.
