The Chinook does not represent planetary winds. The trade winds, westerlies, and polar easterlies are examples of these. Chinook winds, on the other hand, are a sort of local wind that occurs in mountainous places such as North America's Rocky Mountains. Chinooks are warm, dry winds that blow down the leeward side of a mountain range, causing fast temperature and weather changes. They are not associated with the global planetary wind systems.
