Before moving to the eligible rank, lets know about the difference between state rank and category rank- O verall rank is the or AIR (ALL INDIA RANK) is the rank which you get among all the candidates who appeared for the exam but the C ategory rank is the rank which you get among all the candidates of that category who appeared for the exam.

The overall rank is used for getting admissions into all colleges which accept the exam scores, and the candidates are eligible irrespective of their category, where as the category rank is used to get a seat from the specific quota of reserved seats for a category like- GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL,SC,ST, or Girl Supremacy.

Overall rank means the rank you got among all the candidates including unreserved or reserved category.

Category rank means the rank you got among the Candidates of that specific category

All the colleges conduct admission based on NEET score following Constitutional Reservation

So, in State counselling , admission is based on category rank , state merit rank, Reservation criteria and other factors
