Hello,

I'm afraid you've gotten it all wrong my friend. It doesn't work like that. But don't worry, I'm here to explain it to you :)

All over India, in all the government and self financed medical colleges, 85% of the seats come under the state quota. This basically means that aspirants who have a domicile of a specific state (or fullfil the criteria set by the state government of that state to be able to apply for state quota) can apply for those 85% seats.

What this means for you is that if you belong to a state, that doesn't require a domicile and just requires, for example, birth in that state and doing 10th, 11th, 12th from that state (this is the case in Gujarat), then you can apply for the State Quota.

The rest 15% of the seats come under the All India Quota (AIQ), where the AIR is considered for the allotment of colleges. Anyone who is a resident of India can apply for this, for the cut offs in AIQ generally are very very high, so unless you have above 600 marks, it wouldn't be fruitful to apply for AIQ.

Thank You and best of luck :)

Thank you so much for explaining.
But I have one more doubt that for this 15% quota in private colleges do I need to fill the forms of different states. And then 15% quota is for private colleges or not?

No Private colleges do not come under the 15% AIQ quota. You have apply for them separately by ticking the 'Deemed Universities' option during the registration for the All India Counselling.Thank you
