Which subject combination would be best for me to choose for my BA,BA(hon.) if i am preparing for upsc? (and in the event if i don't qualify, it can still give me good career opportunities)
Dear Student ,
Some of the topics which would be best to opt for preparing in UPSC is as follows:
- Sociology
- Psychology
- History
- Pol Science
- English/Education
These subjects are well demanded because of the scoring marks probability and chance to present any answer in a better way .
For other career purpose also.. the above subject are good .
Now, for individual colleges .. they can offer subject combination .But , it will not effect to prepare for your exam. Check the college portal and in academics section .. you'll see the available subject combination (if any)
Hope this helps!
Hello,
Generally speaking BA Hons holds higher weightage than simple BA, there are many reason for the same, as in the former course there is specialization involved, and it's great if you wish to pursue higher studies ahead or you want to go for teaching, see it's good that you're thinking about appearing for UPSC, however please don't restrict your career ambitions to this exam, life is much more than that, in case you want to have a back up plan choose BA Hons, after graduation you can go for Master's Degree, qualify NET/SET for lectureship or you can become assistant professor, if you intend to teach in school, then you have to pursue BEd as having any teaching training program is compulsory, other than UPSC, you can also explore other options such as state PSCs, banking, insurance, railways, staff selection commission recruitment etc, these are basically based on graduation, majority of these don't even ask for specific aggregate at ug level.
