Maths, Physics, Chemistry, General studies and English comprise the subjects of NDA Syllabus 2024 . Paper 1 has 120 Questions in mathematics, and the weightage they carry is 300 marks with 2.5 marks for each question. Paper 2 has the General Aptitude Test(GAT) comprising of 120 questions of total 600 marks. Each question of it carries 4 marks.

Hello Dikshant,

According to UPSC prescribed syllabus for NDA, the examination will be conducted for two papers: Mathematics and General Ability.

The Mathematics paper contains 300 marks while the general ability test holds 600 marks. Hence the written test combined will be of 900 marks.

For mathematics you need to study Algebra, Trigonometry,  Differential Calculus, Vector Algebra, Matrices and Determinants, Analytical and 2D and 3D geometry, Integral Calculus and Differential Equations, Statistics and Probability.

Total Marks:  300 Marks

Total number of questions: 120

Negative Marks: -0. 85 for each wrong answer

Duration: 2.5 hours

For General Ability:

English, General Knowledge, Physics, Chemistry, General Science, History, Geography, Current Affairs.

Total Marks : 600 Marks

Total Number of questions: 150

Number of questions in GK- 100

Number of questions in English-50

Negative Marks- 1. 33 Marks

The National Defense Academy, formally known as NDA is the Joint Service Academy for the Indian Armed Forces. Cadets of three armed services including Army, Navy and Air Force are trained together in the academy, before moving forward with the pre-commissioning training. Admissions in the academy are accepted via written examination conducted by UPSC, followed by an extensive interview conducted by SSB. Finally, a medical test to keep a check on the candidate’s overall health and physical fitness.

Hello Dikshant,

The exam is held in both English and Hindi language. Candidates are asked to attempt two sections- Mathematics and General Ability Test. There weightage in exam are as follows-

  • In Mathematics section, there will be total 120 questions of 300 marks.
  • All questions will carry 2.5 marks each, which will only be allotted for choosing the correct answer. 0.83 Marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
  • General ability test will comprise 600 marks; 200 marks are allotted to English and 400 marks in total are allotted to General Knowledge.
  • In this section, there will be total 150 questions, 50 from English and 100 from General Knowledge.
  • Candidates will be awarded 4 marks for each correct answer in this section.
  • A deduction of 1.33 Marks will be there for each wrong answer. There will be no mark for unanswered questions.
