It is not necessary to take science stream to join NDA you can opt for commerce as well as arts also. But, taking science will help you little extra for your written exam. Here's how.

You'll have physics, chemistry as your main subjects. About 150 marks of GAT paper is of these two subjects. And if you take biology also then you can prepare well for 200 marks. And the science syllabus for NDA is very simple, you'll not have to study into the deep either. Just those class in your school will help you a lot.

Vice Versa

If you opt for arts, then your history, civics, geography will be good. It also hold 200 marks but it needs to be studied in deep. From 6th class onwards.

Taking science will help you in maths also. Maths is the main paper in the whole NDA exam. It holds 300 marks and without clearing it you'll not be able to clear whole NDA exam. There is sectional cutoff for each paper. Generally arts students don't have maths as their main subject. And in maths paper most of the question are from your 11th and 12th syllabus. So it's a big issue for them. Maths is most important.

If you're willing to join IAF or IN then you must have to opt for science stream in your senior secondary school. It's compulsory

Hi. for NDA, you should have knowledge about maths, english, physics, chemistry, general science, history, geography, current events. In 11, it is better that you take physics, chemistry and maths.
