Which subjects should I start studying for the GATE exam currently I am in the second year IT branch? I am taught Data Structure in my college so along with DS should I study Discrete Mathematics from 2nd year or should prepare all the subjects of GATE.
Hello!
In order to crack GATE you must know all the engineering subjects you studied under CS or IT branch. However, in depth knowledge is required for some important subjects. Here is the list of subjects you must be focusing for GATE:
- Data Structure
- Algorithms
- Operating systems
- Database systems
- Data Communications and computer networks
- Theory of Computation and compiler sdesign
- Digital logic and discrete mathematics.
- Computer organization and architecture
Since you are currently in 2nd year and has entered the branch yet, you may not be familiar with all the above mentioned subjects. These are the subjects taught in 2nd and 3rd years of engineering. So your preparation for GATE must go alongside. There are a lot of good videos and materials specially designed to focus on important and required topics for GATE.
All the best!
