Hello,

There are many ways by which you can get into the research programmes in the field of biotechnology.

Biotechnology is an integral part of Applied Biology, which is the combination of biology with technology so as to alter cells for manipulation. The course familiarizes candidates with the usage of living organisms and bioprocesses in the field of medicine, technology, engineering, and other bioproducts.

Undergraduate degrees you can pursue After 12th in the field of Biotechnology (research) -

i. B. Sc Biotechnology or any other related field

ii. B. Tech Biotechnology

iii. Bachelor of Science (Research) Programme at IISc

While the above 2 courses can be found in many prestigious colleges and are completely related to biotech but the 3rd one is something that is more related to research and is offered by The Indian Institute of Science or IISc which has been ranked first in the 'university' and 'overall' category for the last three consecutive years in the NIRF rankings (by the Government of India). Only best of the meritorious students are able to get in this institute.

Apart from this, top colleges of India for B.Sc Biotechnology-

ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS FOR B.SC BIOTECH-

In most of the colleges that provide B.Sc in biotech have admission on the basis of merit. However, there may be some state or private colleges exams that you may need to give in order to get admitted.

ENTRANCE EXAM FOR B. TECH BIOTECHNOLOGY-

MOUET

Almost all state colleges have their own entrance examinations too for this course. to know more about them, you need to see the official sites of state colleges.

ADMISSION TO B.SC RESEARCH AT IISC

Based on the merit list of one of the following national examinations: KVPY-SA [appeared in 2017 and selected for the

Fellowship], KVPY-SB [appeared in 2018 and selected for the Fellowship], KVPY-SX [appeared in 2018 and selected for the

Fellowship], KVPY-SA and SX Fellows selected through the Empowerment Initiative for SC/ST candidates, IIT-JEE-Main

[appearing in 2019 and securing a minimum of 60% (GN), 54% (OBC-NCL), 54% (EWS), 30% (SC/ST/PwD)], IIT-JEEAdvanced [appearing in 2019 and securing a minimum of 60% (GN), 54% (OBC-NCL), 54% (EWS), 30% (SC/ST/PwD)], and

NEET-UG [appearing in 2019 and securing a minimum of 60% (GN), 54% (OBC-NCL), 54% (EWS), 30% (SC/ST/PwD)].

So, either you can complete your under graduation in biotech and then further do masters and PhD. or you can go for a bachelor of science research and do masters in biotech and then research because it is necessary to learn the very basics and then advance towards expertise.

I hope this will help you. still, if you have any other doubt or question, feel free to ask.

All the best!

Hello Aspirant

.

See there is no such exams from where you can get directly get into researceh field after 12th there are some other processes or other ways to pursue the research course.

because  here, you need to have or you should know some core knowledge of that field before pursuing research work. You can choose btech for doing biotechnology after that m.tech you can opt.

.But yes you get good results in 12th and can apply for various exams for iiser ,kvpy, iiscal so you can complete your graduation from iits that will helps in various aspects like where you get fair chance to show your intrests in the research ; it will be easy for you to pursue the course in which streams you have more knowledge and interests.

.

If you have any questions further let me know.

Thank you!!!

Hi,

See if you want to go into research in biotechnology then you can go for btech in biotechnology and after that you go for mtech in it so you can go for your research in the particular field. You can go for bsc but research option might not be there. All the best!
