best book to prepare for GATE mathematics is HK DAS or you can just follow the book which was there in your undergraduate degree curriculum. And if you want just precise knowledge with the view point of GATE exam you can follow Mathematics book by MADE EASY publication.
Questions asked in GATE for civil and mechanical are relatively easy as compared to those asked for CS and ECE branch so plan accordingly
