Hi Aditya. You are required to include the marks of all the subjects (including the optionals) for calculation of percentage, aggregate marks received and maximum marks for both 10th and 12th.

Please don't leave out the optional paper's marks, and don't enter 100 as your percentage. You might get into trouble later, as the IIMs and other top bschools have very strict rules.

For 10th:

Total marks = 600

Aggregate marks obtained = (subject1 GPx9.5) + (subject2 GPx9.5) + (subject3 GPx9.5) + (subject4 GPx9.5) + (subject5 GPx9.5) + (subject6 GPx9.5)

Percentage = (Aggregate marks obtained/Total marks) x 100

Eg, if you have 10GP in all 6 subjects, your percentage will be 95, aggregate marks obtained will be 95x6=570, and total marks will be 600.

All the best!

Hello mam,    I am in same dilemma and agreed what you said but don't you think that would be an unbiased way to calculate % this way as Total marks would be 600 but candidate can score max of 570 marks i.e 95% even for those who have done fabulous in exams . *And that will provide privilege to students who had appeared when there was no grade system* . In my opinion there should be some othe way to calculate max marks ( CBSE has not mentioned anything though ) , even in our marksheets only conversion of marks obtained is mentioned. That was just my opinion . So , please let me know if you are damn sure about what you mentioned above or would you like to give second thought to it . Please help as i can't afford to make mistake in this.

Hello maamHave you done the above procedure while registering for CAT? If I follow the above procedure, I am getting 541.5 marks. Should I consider 541 or 542 since the CAT form does not accept decimal point.Please do reply. Looking forward for your reply.Thank you
