Solution : The correct answer is Warren Hastings.

The Second Anglo-Mysore War took place between 1780 and 1784 during the time of Governor-General Warren Hastings. Sultan of Mysore Haider Ali allied with the Nizam and Marathas and attacked Carnatic, ultimately capturing Arcot. Initially, Colonel Bailey's Dungeon led the English army against Haider Ali but was defeated. However, Haider Ali later defeated the Marathas and Nizam in a battle against the East India Company under Sir Eyre Coote.
