MBBS and BDS are not the only options for a medical stream student. There are different alternatives. Here is the list of courses.

• Ayush Courses : If you wish to become a doctor but not interested in MBBS then there are options like BUMS, BHMS, BAMS, BVSc.BUMS would lead you to Unani medicine, BHMS to Homeopathy and BAMS to ayurvedic medicine. BVSc is for veterinary sciences.
• B.Pharm ( Bachelors of Pharmacy) - This is the most opted course after MBBS. This is an undergraduate course in field of pharmacy. The student wouls study about the drugs and medicines, Medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical engineering etc. You can expect to become a drug assistant or a medical representative at pharmaceutical companies etc.
• Physiotherapist : The physiotherapist helps the patients with physical difficulties resulting from illness, injury or ageing. A physiotherapist has to deal with all age groups from children to elderly.  You can work in a wide range of community and hospital settings. Nowadays almost every 2nd person requires a physiotherapist.
• BSc  Nursing : A nurse has a major role to play in this busy world. Every hospital requires a nurse and not only 1 or 2 there has to be a lot of them. This course includes the study of nursing science, research, leadership and related science.
• BSc. Biotech : Biotechnology is mixture of Biology and technology. This is a 3 year course and admission is done on the basis of merit score. It involves, exploitation of biological processes at molecular , cellular and organism level. You would become a biotechnologist and work in research labs, medicine related fields. The job type would include research analyst, junior scientist, research assistant, medical officier etc.
• BSc Operation Theatres : This is a 3 year program and has been prepared for meeting the demands of growing needs of experts in the field of operation theatre management, medical ethics, anesthesia technology, post operation care. etc.
• Paramedical sciences: This would include the courses like BSc. Radiology, Medical lab technology, occupational therapy, speech therapy, optometry. etc. You can be a part of medical healthcare team in Diagnostic centers, acciddent and emergency, operation theatre, ICU, vission center, clinical labs etc.
• Life Science : This will includes courses like BSc physics, chemistry, biology, zoology, botany, biochemistry, microbiology, genetics, etc. You can go into research field through theses.
• You can also simply change your stream completely and move into managements or commerce or even law. The courses available would be BBA, B.Com, LLB, BA, Mass Com, journalism etc.

Now that you have options other than MBBS and BDS, you can choose as per your interest and aptitude where you wish to be. Also remember every field has good job opportunities and you just need to be perfect with whatever you study.
