Why Closing Ranks of NITs(Top 5) CSE are more in 2017 as compared to previous years (the increase is massive),will it remain same this year?

Every year IITs add few seats like last year around 1 thousand seats were added and so do other colleges like BITS, that was the reasilon for the fall in cutoff for NITs. This year there is reservation for girls so their cutoff is bound to go down. For boys it depends on the relative performance of girls. If they have perfor.ed well than cutoff will fall and vice-versa.

Tnx for rply,As per my info. these seats (reserved for females) are not at the stake of male candidates, i.e. it wont decrease the no of seats for males, this much no of seats will increase and will not be alloted from current seats. So i dont think it will affect much. What do u think??

You are partially correct. Actually if you see the number of seats added this year for girls is around 700-800,but considering currently total number of seats in IITs is around 10.5 thousands so the number of seats to be reserved for girls should be around 1400-1500 , considering 14% reservation for girls but in realty only around 700 supplimentary seats sre added so the remaining quota for seats of girls is filled by the tqking certain number of seats from open quota. So the girls reservation seats are not supernumeray in reality.

In 2015 josaa was introduced and now nit and iit has same admission procedure. This has helped people to take CSE in NITs than taking non CSE branches in IITs. I think this is reason for increase. But now it should stop increasing.

As in 2017 seats in iits and bits where increased and top performers had preferred that so nit cutoff went down.
You can aspect same cut off this year also

It will remain almost same this year too.It will hardly go 50-100 up or down in the closing rank.
