Dear student,

For any exam, the cutoffs ranks are generally dependent on the following factors :-

  • Number of the candidates appeared in the examination.
  • Number is seats available in the participating institutes.
  • Previous years cutoff ranks.
  • And the difficulty level of the question paper.

Now, after analysing the previous trends it is seen that if the seats in the participating institutes are increased then the cutoff ranks also increase. Also if the question paper is difficult then also the cutoff increases a little bit.
Also if the number of candidates appeared are less then also it is seen that the cutoff got increased.

So based on these factors the cutoffs are GENERALLY decided. But there are also other factors but the basic factors are only four which I have mentioned above.

Hi Aspirant,

Cut off generally varies year to year and also depends on several factors like no of students participates,no of seats available, hardness of the paper etc. This year the number of students participated is slightly greater than the previous year and also the paper was moderately hard which resulted in the increase of cutoff marks for this year.

You can check more such details in the link given below:

Hope it helps!!
