Why do people recommend to pursue B.com and then prepare for CAT to get into the top IIMs? I mean minimum age criteria for IIMs is 25 years! I'll be done with my B.com at 21. what am I expected to do in those 4 years with a bachelor's degree?
Basically there is not any as such age limit to get into IIM for majority of courses, but there is age limit criteria for PGP and EPGP course, generally people suggest you to go for CAT exam after BCom because bachelor degree is mandatory if you are pursuing your bachelor degree in commerce stream then it would be easier for you to solve data interpretation, and commerce related part of the CAT exam because you will be having good knowledge of commerce stream, if you are going for the same mentioned course then in rest of the year you can get a work experience that would be beneficial for you to take your chances more positive.
Best of luck.
so does that mean that I'll be eligible to give CAT at 21 and I'll be eligible to get into those IIMs? (P.S I know these are really big dreams and sort of hypothetical..but still)
yes there is not any age limit criteria for applying CAT examination student of any age can appear for the CAT exam but you need to be eligible first, and if it comes to the admission even if you get good percentile and your chances are positive to get into IIM then there will be age limit criteria for above mentioned course while there is no age criteria for MBA.
