Hello aspirant,

The percentage of reservations allocated to each group is as follows: 10% for GEN-EWS, 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST, 27% for OBC-NCL, and 5% for PwD.
Students who fulfill specific requirements, including as passing the qualifying exam, are granted a place through JEE Main.
NITs set aside 50% of seats for candidates from the home state and 50% for those from other states.
The All India Quota is the basis for seat reservations in CFTIs and IIITs. These institutes do not have a home state or other state quota.
The necessary paperwork must be submitted by candidates in order to be eligible for JEE Main Reservation advantages. At the time of counseling, it comprises documentation like a category certificate, income certificate, disability certificate, etc.

In India, caste plays a significant role in the JEE Mains and Advanced exams due to the country's affirmative action policies aimed at promoting social equity. These policies provide reserved seats and relaxations in qualifying criteria for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC), which are historically marginalized groups.

The purpose of caste-based reservations is to level the playing field and offer equal opportunities to students from disadvantaged backgrounds. For instance, SC and ST candidates have lower qualifying marks compared to General category candidates. This is to account for the socio-economic disadvantages they face, which can impact their access to quality education and resources.

In JEE Mains and Advanced, this system is designed to correct historical imbalances and promote diversity in higher education institutions. While this policy aims to ensure that talented students from all backgrounds have opportunities, it also generates debate about its effectiveness and fairness. Critics argue that it may sometimes overlook individual merit, while supporters emphasize the need to address systemic inequalities.

Overall, caste-based reservations in these exams are a reflection of India's broader social policies intended to enhance educational and professional inclusivity.
