Why does cutoff rank sometimes increase(numerically) after successive rounds. For example, I saw the cutoff for CS around 8k rank then it went upto aroound 13k.

Hello,

The cut off tends to change in subsequent rounds because the number of vacant seat will reduce in the subsequent rounds so the cut off rank changes. The cut off is determined by considering various factors such as total number of candidates applied for counselling, difficulty level of examination and total number of seats available etc. Depending on these factors the cut off may increase or decrease.
