Hii Gaurav!

Meiosis is not universal for gamer formation process because of the obvious reason. You must be very well knowing that all the organisms are not diploid. Some are haploid and some are diploid. Only diploid organisms need meiosis to produce haploid gamets. Gamets can never be diploid. Hence, the reduction division. But, haploid organisms just need mitosis to produce haploid gamets ( equational division ). Hope this helps.

Good luck!

Hello!!

we know that Meiosis produces haploid gametes (ova or sperm) that contain one set of 23 chromosomes. When two gametes (an egg and a sperm) fuse, the resulting zygote is once again diploid, with the mother and father each contributing 23 chromosomes.

but imagine if the organism is haplpid itself in this case if gamete formation will take place with the process of meiosis that will create uneven number of chromosomes

Thanks
