Hi Shivam,

The salary package offered to the students certainly differs from college to college because one college has a better market value than the other. Talent certainly counts and that's why students from some not so reputed or established colleges get very good packages. To understand it better, if your friend pursue MBA from any random institute and you pursue your management studies from IIMs or any other major B-school, who do you think will get better salary package after finishing the course? Obviously you'll get a better salary package because you studied from IIMs. They have a huge market value and recruiters come in huge numbers to take students. And, that's why getting into premier B-schools like IIMs, FMS, MDI, IIFT etc. is not easy. On the other hand, you can easily get into any other B-school as they have an easy admission process.

Hope that helps.
