Hello aspirant,
Certified but barred by mci for two year 2017 -18 & 2018 -19
There will be 350 less seats for undergraduate medical and dental courses in Maharashtra after the Medical Council of India (MCI) banned three medical institutes from admitting students for 2018-19 academic year.
Two out of three institutes had faced similar trouble last year as well, but they had managed to make necessary structural changes to secure MCI permission before admissions this year. But this year too it looks difficult, so we are not including these institutes in common admissions at all, said Dr Pravin Shingare, director, directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER).
One of the colleges barred from admitting students is Vedantaa Institute of Medical Sciences, Palghar, the states first private limited medical college.
Not only has the institute been banned from admitting students in 2018-19, weve also heard that the institute is being de-recognised by the MCI.
The other institutes are ACPM Medical College in Dhule and MIMER in Talegaon; the capacity of MIMSR Medical College in Latur has been reduced by 50 seats.
Information shared by the DMER reveals that there are 3,000 medical and 250 dental seats in government institutes and 1,500 medical and 850 dental seats in private medical institutes in the state.
All the best.
