why was vikramaditya known as the greatest judge of india can you reproduce any story of his judgment
hello aspirant...
hope you are doing good.
Vikramaditya ruled over parts of India in the first century BCE, and popular legend attributes the beginning of the Vikrama Samvat era to him in 57 BCE. He appears in hundreds of traditional Indian legends, including the well-known Vikram and Betaal, based on Baital Pachisi.
he is considered the greatest judge as he always used his wit and wisedom to settle any dispute. there are many examples for this judgements like in one instance, two women came to him with a baby and they both alleged that the baby is their baby. the then time has no DNA tests right, then King ordered a soldier to cut the baby into two parts and share the parts between the two ladies.
listening to this order, every one in the court left shocked and the true mother started weeping and requested the king not to do so and give the baby to the other lady whereas the other lady is standing still unaffected even after listening to that order.
then the king Vikramaditya came to a conclusion that the lady who requested to give away the baby is the real mother as she worried if the order is put in action, the baby would rather die and gave the baby to the original mother and then it is said that the king punished the other lady.
There are some other stories like this which proves his wisdom.
Hope this information helps you...
All the best.
