Individuals who are not under reservations for SC/ST/OBC and whose families have a gross annual income of less than 8 lakh are eligible to be recruited under the EWS quota. Different states has different validity for EWS certificate and generally it is valid for 1 year . In Gujarat, the validity is extended upto  3 years.

EWS is now applicable in most of the government jobs and educational courses.If your validity of certificate gets completed after march and you wants to take admission in EWS quota in MAY, You need to renew it.

EWS reservation has been started long back, it was given to many exams right from the bill passed and was even given to existing exams and application. It will be in next exams as well and you can use that certificate for it. The validity period is usually for 1 year, you can reapply if needed to the same authority with submitting the existing one. So it depends upon when your counselling will be held and whether it will be valid or not will be based on those dates.
