In order to get admisssion in NITs you should crack the exam JEE main with a valid score, without passing JEE Main exam you can not get admission in any of NITs. You can check JEE Main cutoff

Jee mains score is the criteria for admission in B.Tech coursesof nits. There is no other way to get a seat in different branches of B Tech courses in NITs.
However ,M.Tech seats in NITs are alloted on the basis of rank scored in GATE examination.
