Ram Mohan Roy was a great social activists from West Bengal who played a major role in abolishing the sati pratha which was a cruel system in India where the widows were forced to burn with their husbands corpse after their death in one of the most brutal ways.
Ram Mohan Roy decided to abolish this practice from the society when he saw his own and suffered the same after the death of his uncle.
