write a short note on global carbon cycle with the help of diagram answer in 150 words
Hi Aspirant,
The carbon cycle is a mechanism in which carbon moves from the atmosphere to organisms and the Earth, and then back to the atmosphere. Plants take carbon dioxide out of the air and use it to produce food. Animals then consume food and carbon is retained in their bodies or released as CO2 by respiration.
Steps:
- The carbon present in the atmosphere is consumed by photosynthesis plants.
- These plants are then eaten by animals, and the carbon accumulates in their bodies.
- These animals and plants ultimately die, and when decomposed, carbon is released back into the atmosphere.
- Any of the carbon that is not emitted back into the atmosphere will gradually become fossil fuels.
- These fossil fuels are then used for man-made practises that inject more carbon back into the atmosphere.
- It's important to note that our Planet and its atmosphere as a whole is a closed environment. The thing that happens right now is everything we'll ever have. 'Matter cannot be created or destroyed'.
- We've got a fixed amount of carbon on Earth and in the atmosphere. We're in our own bubble, with little to leave or reach our universe. We don't get the intergalactic deliveries of required elements like carbon.
- That ensures that all the carbon we have on Earth and in the atmosphere is the same amount we've always had. And so when new species are created, carbon is required to shape key molecules, such as protein and DNA. But where does that come from? This is where the carbon cycle is coming in.
Thank you
