Hello Student,
CH3MgBr fall in the category of grignard reagents(RMgX)
CH3MgBr on reaction with compounds having atleast once acidic hydrogen will evolve methane/CH4 gas.
1) CH3MgBr + R'OH --------> CH4 + R'O-Mg-Br
2) CH3MgBr + R'NH2 --------> CH4 + R'NH-Mg-Br
3) CH3MgBr + R'-CCH(Alkyne) --------> CH4 + R'-CC-Mg-X
4) CHMgBr + HOH --------> CH4 + OH-Mg-X
Replace the R' group with any alkane and you will easily get 10 or more compounds which evolve methane gas on reaction with CH3-Mg-BR. In Methane that is evolve CH3- comes from the grignard reagent which reacts with the acidic hydrogen to form methane.
