Indian Constitution provides five types of writs, which are Habeas Corpus, Mandamus, Prohibition, Certiorari, Quo-warranto.

The supreme court and high courts have been provided the  power to issue writs. Under article 32 of the Constitution, The Supreme Court has been provided the power to issue writs. And under article 226 high courts have been provided the power to issue writs. Citizens have the right to approach either the supreme court for the high court for the issuance of the writs.
