60 MonthsThis five year long program leads up to the award of the Bachelor of Urban Design degree (B.UD). In this course, students will learn to design for the public, and will examine the life and structure of cities through the study of interactions of political frameworks, social and cultural relationships, and economic dynamics with the physical landscapes and systems that form the city. These skills will allow them to effectively support projects in many capacities related to the urban realm, like the design of streets and junctions, parks, gardens, playgrounds, waterfront areas, bus stops, and other types of transport facilities.
The first year of the program is treated as a foundation year, in which the focus is on developing basic design, observational, and analytical skills. The following two years are focused on advanced skill development and knowledge across four main branches of study: designing sites, design advice, managing design processes and studies. In the final two years, students will be able to focus on areas within the four branches that align with their interests. One semester in the fourth year will be an internship, and the final semester is an individual capstone project that a student will take up under the guidance of a faculty member. This five year program is in tandem with all other undergraduate programs at CEPT University.
