The IIM Visakhapatnam selection is done in 2 phases.

Phase 1

For qualifying for the PI round candidates must pass the Phase 1. For all CAT qualified confirmed candidates, the weights for the six components for passing Phase 1 are fixed as-

• CAT = 50
• 10^th Board = 10
• 12^th Board = 10
• Bachelors = 10
• Diversity = 10 {Gender (Female & Transgender)}
• Work Experience = 10

The 50 points for CAT are derived from the performance in each of the three sections as follows: Verbal and Reading Comprehension (VARC) – 18 points, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR) – 14 points, and Quantitative Aptitude (QA) – 18 points.

Work Experience

Score for Work Experience is calculate by.

• 5x/12, if x < 12
• 10, if 12 ≤ x ≤36
• 10 - 0.625(x - 36), if 12 ≤ x ≤36
• 2.5 if x > 48

Where "x" is the months of work experience.

Phase 2

All standardisation is done with reference to the qualifying first shortlist. The standardized score (truncated between 0 and the weight (wt)) is computed from the raw score (val) as follows:

Max [0, min {wt, wt/2 + ((val-mean)/sd) * wt/6}].

•  PI Score (weight=48)
•  CAT (weight=25)
•  10^th Board (weight= 4)
•  12^th Board (weight= 4)
•  Bachelor’s (weight= 4)
•  Diversity {Gender (Female & transgender)} (weight= 5)
•  Work Experience (weight=10)

Selection of the candidates will be done based on their CAT cutoff score.
