48 MonthsThe B.Tech. program in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at IIT Jodhpur aims to equip its students with skills to undertake careers that involve identifying and engineering solutions for real-world problems, through innovating upon their core competence in computer science. The curriculum gives due importance to the foundational aspects of computer science, as well as aspires to inculcate in students the foresight and expertise to address transdisciplinary technological questions. Students can choose from a number of elective courses that strive to expand their understanding of emerging concepts and processes across domains such as Theory and Algorithms, Hardware, Systems, Network and Security, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Speech, Vision, Language, and Social Computing.
The program also encourages its students to opt from a number of exclusive interdisciplinary specialization tracks, that are envisaged to provide a coherent and sophisticated understanding of underlying subject-areas, to empower them to pursue myriad career paths. Some of these specializations are:
1) Visual Computing
2) Socio-Digital Reality
3) Advanced Algorithms
4) Social and Sustainable Computing
5) Intelligent Communication and Networking
6) VLSI Systems
The program aspires to produce a well prepared, motivated workforce who would valiantly embark upon careers in research and industry involving innovation, knowledge creation, engineering, and entrepreneurship. All students who have graduated from the department thus far are currently placed in companies of repute or are pursuing higher education in top-tier universities in the country and the rest of the world.
The candidates should satisfy at least one of the following two criteria for admission to IITs:
(1) Must have secured at least 75% aggregate marks in the Class XII (or equivalent) Board examination. The aggregate marks for SC, ST, and PwD candidates should be at least 65%. Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are required as compulsory subjects in Class XII (or equivalent) Board examination in 2019 or 2020.
(2) Must be within the category-wise top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective Class XII (or equivalent) board examination in 2019 or 2020 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
The percentile calculation will be done for the required subjects in a single academic year only. Therefore, candidates appearing for improvement in Board examinations can EITHER appear in one or more subjects and secure 75% aggregate marks (65% for SC, ST, and PwD) after improvement, OR, appear for improvement in ALL subjects to be in top 20 percentile of the corresponding academic year.
• The marks scored in the following five subjects will be considered for calculating the aggregate marks and the cut-off marks for fulfilling the top 20 percentile criterion.
i. Physics
ii. Chemistry
iii. Mathematics
iv. A language (if the candidate has taken more than one language, then the language with the higher marks will be considered)
v. Any subject other than the above four (the subject with the highest marks will be considered).
Admissions to B.Tech. Programs are made through the all-India level Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) conducted by IITs. The procedures and other requirements for admission are specified in the JEE Information Brochure brought out every year.
1. Foreign Nationals
Applicants, who are NOT citizens of India (by birth or naturalized) at the time of registering for JEE (Advanced) 2016 will be treated as Foreign Nationals. Seats allotted to foreign nationals will be supernumerary with an upper limit of 10% of the total number of seats allocated for Indian Nationals, in every program. Foreign Nationals will be outside the ambit of reservation of seats under the OBCNCL, SC, ST and PwD categories as specified herein. Details of the method of admission, fee, and other conditions are being worked out; the same will be posted on the website as soon as they become available.
2. Reservation of Seats and Admission to Reserved Seats for Indian Nationals
Reservation of seats for the various categories shall be in accordance with the policy of the Government of India. The admission process for the reserved seats is as stated below:
(a) SC and ST Candidates: Reserved seats are filled on the basis of JEE qualifying norms specified for them. In case these reserved seats remain vacant, other SC and ST candidates (who appeared in JEE and satisfy certain relaxed conditions) are offered admission to the Preparatory Course of one-year duration in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English. On completion of the preparatory course and passing of the examination conducted by the Institute, the candidates are offered admission to the first year of B.Tech. Program against the vacant reserved seats of the year of their appearance in JEE.
(b) Other Backward Classes (OBC) Candidates (Not belonging to creamy layer): Reserved seats are filled on the basis of JEE qualifying norms specified for them.
(c) PD Candidates: Reserved seats are filled on the basis of JEE qualifying norms specified for them. In case these reserved seats remain vacant, other candidates in their respective categories are offered admission.
3. Change of Program
Normally, students shall pursue the respective B.Tech. Program allocated to them at the time of admission. But, the Senate may permit a limited number of students to change their Program as per approved guidelines.
So we have school of AI & DE, but this is for PG not UG and we come under CSE department. Here, every building contains Wi-Fi, including my department. Labs are well-equipped, like a supercomputer, which exists only here in IITJ compared to all other IITs. Classrooms are also well-equipped but there may be some power cut-off while studying, although the possibility is very low. Yes, it happens sometimes. We have library full of books and we even have library which consists of enormous amount of books. In the offline library, you will find book of each course you will be studying till your last day in college. The quality of the hostel is quite good. We are the only IIT that has rooms with AC, and we are properly equipped with Wi-Fi and an Ethernet port in each room.
The campus is huge, spanning up to 800 acres and has every facility that a student needs to excel in both academic and co curricular fields. The hostels are well furnished and only IIT campus that provide individual AC rooms.
Infrastructure is really nice and hostels are well maintained and really good.wifi will work whole the time and interest speed is fast.rooms are clean and well organised.library facilities are also nice and we can read any books we want.
