Doctor of Philosophy in IOT and Applications is 3 to 6 years, the student has to finish between this timeline to obtain the Ph.D. degree and offered by Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur.

Internet of Things (IoT) has gained immense interest for applications in smart agriculture, transportation, environment monitoring, healthcare, and smart wearable, Industrial IoT, and many other applications. Sensors are the key components to communicate with surroundings, which have to be both highly sensitive and selective as well. On the other hand, the data collected from sensors have to be analyzed and used for making Processes and Systems smarter. IoT and applications area is a highly multidisciplinary area involving various areas of Materials, Devices, Sensors, Circuits, Communication, and Data Analytics, and their applications in IoT system development.

Candidates of various relevant academic backgrounds with interest in this exciting upcoming area are encouraged to apply for Ph.D. position.

Since the inception of IIT Jodhpur, one of the key approaches was to deliver in the area of societal development through Inter-Disciplinary programs. Eligibility Criteria

(a) Ph.D. Program (Regular)

(i) Candidates admitted in this category shall not be a registered student in any otheracademic program in India or abroad, and shall not be a full-time or part-time employeeof any organization in India or abroad.

(ii) The applicant must have a master’s degree in engineering, pharmacy, agriculturalscience, science, humanities, social sciences, management with at least 60% marks or atleast 6.0/10 CPI or CGPA for GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC (55% for SC/ST/PD),

The applicant must have MBBS with MD/MS, BVSc with MVSc, BDS with MDS, BPTh withMPTh, BOTh with MOTh or equivalent with at least 60% marks or at least 6.0/10 CPI orCGPA for GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC (55% for SC/ST/PD) in bachelor’s degree,

The applicant must have a bachelor’s degree of minimum four-year duration inengineering or science or medicine or pharmacy or agricultural science or veterinaryscience or equivalent with at least 70% marks or at least 7.0/10 CPI or CGPA forGEN/GEN-EWS/OBC (65% for SC/ST/PD).

(b) Ph.D. Program (Sponsored/External/Part-time)

(i) Candidates admitted in this category shall not be a registered student in any otheracademic program in India or abroad.

(iii) The applicant must have a minimum of two years of work experience (after qualifyingdegree) in industry/R&D laboratories/Academic Institutions at the time of registration tothe program

(iv) The applicant must qualify the written test and/or interview conducted by IIT Jodhpur.

The applications of INRA and foreign nationals may be processed by the departments as and when they are received or according to any schedule convenient to the department. The applications should be scrutinized to make sure that, both in terms of qualifications and attainment they are comparable with the candidates admitted in the general category. Department will conduct VC based interview for ascertaining suitability of the candidate. The candidates under these category will be admitted as Self-Financing Student (Full program), if selected for admissions.

Admission Details

The Academic Committee shortlists applicants with a proven academic record based on a cut-off of the GATE, CSIR or UGC score card or equivalent. The shortlisted applicants will be called for the Written Examination and/or Interview. Admission will be made based on academic performance in the Written Examination and/or Interview.
The Institute shall call the shortlisted applicants for an interview to the Admissions Committee consisting of Faculty Members associated with that particular discipline. Based on the performance of the applicant in the interview in addition to her/his academic record, the Admissions Committee will recommend to the Chairman, Senate, names of applicants found suitable for admission to the Ph.D. Program.
All applicants, who are offered admission, will be informed by email within a week of the interview process. Persons whose selection is approved by the Chairman, Senate, will be admitted to the Ph.D. Program at IIT Jodhpur, on payment of fee prescribed for the Program.
