Design and Innovation holds the key for all the industries and organizations beyond what they do. Masters in design intends to develop professionals in designing products that are functional, aesthetic, usable and sustainable. The Master of Design programme at IIT Roorkee is aimed at providing an engaging environment to foster creativity and skills through an interdisciplinary process of teaching and training. The students will be exposed to the fundamentals of design and prototyping, Design thinking, Product-human interface, Materials and manufacturing, Design methods, Visual design, Form studies, Computer aided design, and Design for sustainability. The programme structure lays significant emphasis on innovation and is industry oriented in order to stay abreast with the latest technological advancements and to maintain the relevance of the course by solving upcoming futuristic challenges. Career opportunities for the graduating students in the domain of design include working in the design industry, design studios and/or setting up an independent design practice.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates belonging to General, GEN-EWS and OBC category must have secured at least 60% marks or CGPA of 6.00 on a 10-point scale at the qualifying degree level; Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PD category, must have secured 55% or 5.50 CGPA on a 10-point scale. The marks awarded for the qualifying degree will be considered for eligibility.

In case of CGPA awarded on different point scale, Table-1 as approved by the Senate of the Institute will be considered for deciding eligibility.
