Khalsa University, Amritsar was established in 2016 under the aegis of Khalsa College Charitable Society, Amritsar (KCCS) by Punjab Government Act No.44/2016 under section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. The university is approved by the  University Grants Commission (UGC) and Bar Council of India (BCI). The university has got the "A Grade" accreditation from the relevant regulatory bodies.

Khalsa University, Amritsa offers undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, M.Phil and Ph.D courses in different disciplines. The courses offered by the Khalsa University are B.Sc B.Ed Integrated, Bachelor of Real Estate and Urban Infrastructure, M.Phil Agriculture, M.Phil Management, B.Com LLB, B.Ed, MBA, M.Tech Computer Science Engineering, Ph.D Entomology, M.Sc Food and Nutrition, MCA, M.Sc Environmental Sciences Hons and others.
