Maharishi Balmiki Sankrit University, Kaithal, was setup in 2018, thus being a state university in Haryana, India. It is a recent institution to serve exclusively for the development and protection of Sanskrit language and literature. These courses are UGC approved, and the university provides different courses in Sanskrit as well as in related fields. The university offers depth of studies in sanskrit with a focused and small heading of 8 members comprising its faculty. The institution teaches eight courses in six degree programmes and has more focus on subjects such as Sanskrit, Sahitya, Darshana, and Dharmashastra fields.

This university has a number of features that aim at improving the situation and the building’s infrastructure of this school provides the student with facilities that can facilitate learning. Play school also has a library that contains a rich collection of Sanskrit text books and other related documents, which makes students fully equipped with knowledge in their special area of study. Maharishi Balmiki Sanskrit University provided many types of courses for different fields of Sanskrit, totaling 18 courses. A full-time undergrad programme offered by the university are BA Sanskrit Hons, BA Sahitya Hons, BA Darshana Hons, and BA Dharmashastra Hons that span four years of education. Commitment to education is also represented by a two-year full-time B.Ed. programme at the university. Also for scholars who wish to study the subject further, there is a six-year full-time Ph.D in Sanskrit. Though it is not clear how many seats are reserved for each of the programmes, the university wants to impart quality education in Sanskrit and other subjects to as many students as possible every year.

The requirements for enrolment at Maharishi Balmiki Sanskrit University are different for each academic plan. To this end, merit is considered when offering admissions to the B.Ed. programme through the marks obtained in the qualifying test/entrance examination.
