Manipur International University (MIU) was established in 2019 as a State Private University at Imphal, Manipur. It takes 6 years for each doctoral programme, which provides a sufficient amount of time for concentrated investigation and academic transformative process. Intake numbers of specific courses are not known but the university provides enough programmes list to shows that encouragement for research in various fields of study is carried out.

Admission to the doctoral programmes offered at Manipur International University requires the university to select students with the right qualifications who have a passion for carrying out research. Candidates who have passed M.Phil from a recognized University or who have qualified in U.G.C. NET/CSIR/ICAR (ASRB)/GPAT/ICMR/GATE/DST-INSPIRE/SET/IET/JRF/ SRF NEED NOT APPEAR IN Ph.D. ENTRANCE TEST (PET). Also, the exemption shall be allowed to civil servants who have served in the state, central government, or in private service for not less than three years. These candidates are given a direct interview call. However, for the persons who do not come under any of these exemption criteria, the University holds the Ph.D. Entrance Test – PET as part of the admission process. The university, however, advises the candidates interested to attend MIU, to look for specific intakes and dates, known to change frequently, by visiting MIU website or from any other official source.
