The Rama Devi Women's University, Bhubaneshwar was established in 1989 by Act No.5 as a state university. The college was accredited with a grade ‘A’ by the NAAC on September 16, 2004. The college was re-accredited with a grade ‘A’ in February 2015. The university is committed to providing quality education to women, especially those from rural and marginalised backgrounds. RDWU Bhubaneswar is affiliated with the University Grants Commission (UGC) and has established collaborations with several national and international universities and research institutes. 

Rama Devi Women's University, Bhubaneswar offers various undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in disciplines such as engineering, science, humanities, commerce, and management. The courses offered at RDWU Bhubaneswar are B.Com, B.Ed, BA, B.Sc, MA, M.Com, M.Sc, MBA and many others. The Odisha State Higher Education Council (OSHEC) conducts the Common PG Entrance Test for admission to postgraduate courses.
