Course Overview
This course One Health as Holistic Problem Solving is a four-week online course. This course was designed by the University of AlaskaX and offered by the EDX platform. Arleigh Reynolds, Laurie Meythaler - Mullins, and Hannah Robinson are the instructors of this course. This course will present a number of "Wicked Problems" and investigate them from a One Health perspective. This process will show students how taking a multidisciplinary, cross-cultural approach to understanding the underlying causes of these issues aids in the development of resilient and sustainable solutions.
The effective implementation of One Health necessitates skills and approaches that promote knowledge transfer equity by natural sciences, social sciences, and traditional ways of knowing are all given equal weight. While the holders of knowledge are frequently well-versed in understanding and communicating information to others within their own discipline and knowledge base, they frequently struggle to understand data presented from knowledge bases and disciplines other than their own. Active listening skills, cultural awareness, and policy equity in the value of all knowledge systems involved are critical to the successful implementation of a One Health approach. This programme will expand on the skills learned in OH1x. Participants will get to enroll either in the free audit track that offers limited access or they can choose to upgrade to the paid version which is the verified track.
