Course Overview

This course on Food Chemistry will assist you in developing an understanding of the chemical structure that forms a part of food processes. Food Chemistry deals with the interaction of biological and non-biological food components. This discipline of study is analogous to biochemistry in terms of the components that it deals with such as lipids, protein, and carbohydrates. But it is also involved in the areas of food additives, colors, flavors, vitamins, and others.

In addition to these, Food Chemistry explores the ways that foods change their functional properties during the stages of food processing. It also intends to contribute to the changes in a manner that is beneficial for the product. Modern biochemistry and chemistry have helped the field of Food Chemistry to witness huge developments in recent years.

The knowledge of Food Chemistry is largely in demand for the maintenance of food safety and quality. The areas of nutraceuticals and functional foods are also expected to ally with this discipline. The course content is designed by experts in this domain, which will enable you to effectively deal with the industry requirements.
