Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute (AEC&RI), Coimbatore, as one out of many reputed constituent colleges of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. AEC&RI is one of the oldest and foremost institutions conducting agricultural engineering training in India and now offers Bachelor's, Master's, and Ph.D. programs in a variety of courses. AEC&RI has an elaborate admission process filtering competent students to its various specialized programs in agricultural engineering and related accessibilities. Normally, the admission cycle of AEC&RI synchronizes with the academic year starting in August-September. For undergraduate programs, AEC&RI considers the merit list of admissions initiated by the Tamil Nadu government (TNEA), actually made according to 12th standard board examinations, especially in Group I and Group II subjects. This way, it can be ensured that students taking the B.Tech courses are selected on merit but have a good basic knowledge of the subjects relevant to the engineering courses.
The applicant to the B.Tech program must have passed the 12th standard or equivalent from a recognized board. The candidate should have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects. Several M-Tech degree programs specialize in Agricultural Engineering at AEC&RI. These programs include Agricultural Engineering, Processing and Food Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, Farm Machinery and Power Engineering, and Soil-and-Water Conservation Engineering. The admission procedure for such programs may comprise evaluating the candidates' performance at the undergraduate level and other relevant criteria as established by the institute or the university.

Admission Process Degree wise
The B.Tec. in Energy Engineering and the B.Tec. in Food Technology are the two programs offered by AEC&RI. Admission is on the basis of the merit list for TNEA, which lists students with reference to their performances in the 12th standard board examinations, especially in subjects of Group I and Group II. Each program can enroll 60 students. Candidates must study the core subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics while completing their 12th class.
The M-Tech admissions for some programs, however, shall depend on the written results of the candidates in specified undergraduate engineering courses. Criteria may vary from program to program.
Doctorate: Food Process Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, Farm Machinery, and Power Engineering, Soil, and Water Conservation Engineering are four Ph.D. programs offered by the Department. For the best chances of admission, research-oriented programs would require having preferably a combination of accountancy, proposal for research, maybe an interview; regrettably, within other descriptions there are no clear mentions of those very specific avenues into selection.
