In Amrita college of Engineering in amrithapuri campus, you are eligible to get seats in CSE, ece, EEE, etc. But in Coimbatore campus you are eligible only for civil engineering, Mechanical Engineering and EI engineering.

Hey! As per previous years records, there are chances for you to get electronics and communication engineering ECE and electronics and electrical engineering EEE. Also, you might get cse, but there are chances of getting waitlist.

Well, you must note that the criteria has been changes now, so there are chances  of any change in seat allotment criteria.

Congratulations for your result. Based on your son's rank, he can expect Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore. He has secured 9978 rank in AEEE and you belong Chennai which means you'll be treated as Home State quota candidate for getting admission into Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore. Now if we go through last few years' cutoff, he can expect Computer Science and Engineering in Armita School of Engineering as the closing rank for CSE lies around 13000. Almost all the branches get filled within19000 rank. As he has a good rank, he can get all the branches in Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore. Hello student. 16,000 is a bit higher rankk. But there is a scope to get seat in chemical engineering. There are two other campuses. One os kerala and the other is bangalore.

In these two campuses, you have pretty good chances to get chemical engineering. If you have any reservation and quota you have higher vchances to get the seat.

Every year the cutoff and ranks keep varying, depending on the following few factors:

• Number of candidates appeared in the written examination.
• Number of seats available in the participating institutions.
• Number of candidates qualified in the exam.
• Difficulty level of exam.
• Previous year's cutoff trends.

According to previous year's statistics, the end rank for CSE in Amrita University, Coimbatore was 1813 for open quota and 13801.

Since you haven't mentioned your quota, I cannot specifically give you an yes/no question, but I hope you will figure it out from the above trends.

As per your rank that is 9.5 k in AEEE 2020, so for computer science the closing rank is 2100. If you belong from state quota you are eligible for CSE branch.

For SC /ST Category (Open and State Quota)

Opening rank : 1 – 15000 ; Closing Rank: 15001 – 25000

For General Category (Open and State Quota)

Opening rank:  1 – 750; Closing rank:  9501 – 10000

For State quota

Opening rank:  10001 – 12500: Closing rank:    20001 -22500

We cannot predict the cut off now as it depends on number of candidates appeared in AEEE, number of seats available and difficulty of exam. Previous year cut off cannot be compared because previous year AEEE rank was based on marks scored in AEEE alone but this year 40% weightage is given for marks scored in PCM and 60% weightage is given for marks scored in AEEE. Cut off will be declared after the Counselling. You might have chances of getting seat in ECE if you belong to reserved category.

Well, it is quite difficult to predict your rank and the seat which will you get. As, now the criteria of ranking has been changed, earlier it was based on aeee exam or jee mains but now it is 60% weightage to aeee and 40% weightage to 10+2 marks. But 120 out of 180 is really a good score, so possibly you will get your seat. But nothing can be said as final,you need to wait until the counseling procedure starts.

A pass in 10 + 2 (Class XII) or its equivalent examination with minimum 60% aggregate of marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and with not less than 55% individually in each of these three subjects.

Also, if you are student of Tamilnadu then you can get in with 1500 rank or if you are from any other state then you must have 600 rank in AEEE (as per previous years records)

I will give you a brief description of both the institutes so that you can decide which one is better accordinng to you.

As for Amrita Coimbatore- About 95% of the students get  placed one year but the this year the placements were not that much due to covid. The top salary package offered was 10 LPA while lowest was 2.5 LPA.Execpt for teh wifi and the food served in the hostel everything about the infrastructure is good.The curriculum is on point and the faculty is good too (highly knowledgeable).

Now for Jain University, the highest salary package offered in this (2020) year to the CSE specialisation in AI was 30 LPA. The college helps students to get prepared for placements and also helps them in entrepreneurships. The infrasyructure is great (better than Amrita)  and the faculty members of the CSE branch are good and very co-operative.

I suggest you to do a more thorough research by contacting students from these colleges before you tak ethe final decision. All the best!
