Established in 1999, the college lies in Sonepat, Haryana on an area of 11.15 acres. BMIET Sonepat is an institute of Technical College. It is affiliated with the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi. The institute offers a variety of programmes through 6 courses spread over 3 degrees. It has a total student enrolment of 508. BMIET Sonepat has a total strength of 36 faculty members, thereby ensuring the right student-teacher ratio; this is also favourable to provide learning with appropriate atmosphere. The institute specialises in engineering, management, and business administration programmes that prepare students for future work in many areas.

BMIET Sonepat has all the facilities to provide a wide variety of academic programs. BMIET Sonepat offers 6 full-time courses in different disciplines. It has B.Tech courses under Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and Internet of Things. It has BBA and MBA courses for aspiring candidates in management. The total number of all the programs approved together is 508, assuring focused and personalised learning.

Admission of students at the BMIET Sonepat ensures selection on the basis of merit through the results of various entrance tests generally conducted at both the national and the state levels. Admissions to the B.Tech programmes are made on the basis of the Joint Entrance Examination JEE Main Paper 1 conducted by the National Testing Agency NTA. The institute makes use of JEE Main merit for its engineering admissions. There is merit-based selection to BBA by the scores obtained in the written test or CET. For the majority of programmes, the institute also accepts scores of other major entrance tests including IPU CET and Christ University Entrance Test.
