Central Calcutta Polytechnic was founded in the year 1963. It is located in Kolkata, West Bengal. There are ample modern facilities in theCentral Calcutta Polytechnic for the academic purpose of learning. The library is one of the prime learning facilities, which consists of a vast stock of learning resources, around 36,000 volumes of books covering a myriad of titles and authors of books, along with journals of imperative value. Besides, students also enjoy modern furniture of the library and their exclusive reading room. A fully equipped, state-of-the-art computer laboratory with almost 150 computers is a standing testimony of the college's commitment to change with the times. Each department has its own well-furnished laboratories for practical classes, such as Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science Technology, or Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering. Both the Physics and Chemistry labs are fully equipped with all relevant apparatuses and chemicals.
Central Calcutta Polytechnic has a total of five courses currently being offered at full-time programs. There are four diploma courses and one post-diploma course. All the diploma courses are of three years duration and the post-diploma course is of two years duration. All the courses have total approved intake of 225 students.

Admission to Central Calcutta Polytechnic is mainly made through the Joint Entrance Examination for Polytechnics West Bengal, conducted by the WBSCT&VE&SD. This is a common examination, and this can be considered to a certain extent as the prime entry point into the diploma courses of this institute. The worst thing about our college is infrastructure. They dont even have the clasrooms clean. There are holes in the walls between two classrooms . There is no proper playground. Even there is no canteen.
