The CIPET – Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology, Amritsar was set up in the year 1989. Established in 1997, this is a government of India organisation offering Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology education situated in Punjab. CIPET Amritsar has a largest 7 acre campus and is recognized from All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). This institute has overall student strength of 1650 and faculties of 17 which provides a concentrated education environment. CIPET Amritsar offers only three courses that are completely full time and they are – Post Graduate Diploma in Plastics Technology, Diploma in Plastics Technology and Engineering Plastics Technology.
CIPET Amritsar aims at offering its students best of the facilities by which they can improve the learning process. The institute has fully equipped Physics, Chemical, Electrical and Electronics Engineering Lab to provide the theoretical knowledge and practical demonstrations and experiments. The campus has a digitalized RFID enabled hulking library with over 3487 documents ranging from books, magazines, and reference documents. CIPET Amritsar provide student’s sports facilities at campus, outdoor facilities such as football ground, volley ball ground, Athletic track & indoor facilities chess carom and table tennis. The institute also owned a gym for the fitness freaks.
The courses being offered by CIPET Amritsar are oriented to response the needs of the petrochemical industry. The institute offers three full-time courses: These are a Postgraduate Diploma in Plastics Processing and Testing, a Diploma in Plastics Technology and a Diploma in Plastics Mould Technology. All the three programs have an approved capacity for admission for 60 students and hence a total of 180 students across the three courses. These specialized programs are specifically aimed at equipping a student with the information and expertise needed to succeed in the fast-growing sector of the plastics and petrochemical industry.
