The CDE-BDU otherwise known as Centre for Distance Education, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli is one of the recognized university offering distance education since it was started in the year 1992. This well-known centre is a constituent of Bharathidasan University established in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu which aims to extend higher education for students of all communities. CDE-BDU is affiliated to the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) to keep quality standards high in all the varied programs the institution offers. The institute provides 58 courses across 15 degrees including arts, business, commerce, education, engineering, IT, law, nursing, and science. CDE-BDU has embraced diversity in education hence admitting both male and female students thus it takes a composite Co-educational institution.

The Centre for Distance Education has adequate equipment to meet the need of its students throughout the educational program.
